Recent News...
The recent Mezmer Society trips to Lexington, KY and
Cincinnati, OH, were really wonderful. In Lexington,
we shared the bill with Rakadu and The Swells, an unfrickin'believable
N'awlinz jazz band. The workshop with Gaiananda was
truly joyful, and we already look forward to getting
back that way.
Also last weekend, the debut of Claire's new company,
Bootstraps Burlesque at the Rocket Club with Sirius
B was a smash hit.
Simultaneously, Baraka
Mundi performed six shows at the Tennessee Renn Faire
outside Nashville and ate much fresh sushi. Our second
team of performers, with Roxanne Bruuscha and Jessica
Treadway will be out there the next few weeks. Look
for them on TV in the Nashville area next Saturday!
Claire, Liam, Biko and Onca heading back to the Faire
for Memorial Day Weekend.

14-18 , 2008 - Sebastopol, CA. TribalFest,
the largest of tribal dance convergences, has invited
Onça to teach. The Mezmer Society will be performing.
*May 15, 2008 - Asheville, NC. Special
Topics Bellydance with Roxanne Bruscha of Carnivale
Mijnoon. Drills 7-8pm and Serious Skirtwork. 8-9pm.
M & L Center, 90 Biltmore Avenue. $12 drop ins,
$20 for both. Roxanne is currently touring the SouthEast,
and is known for her athletic, folklorically informed
style and powerful stagecraft. Students already registered
for the six-week session are welcome at no charge.
*May 29 - July 2, 2008 - Asheville,
NC. Our creative allies Arts2People
just awarded us a grant to teach and perform a six week
series at Pritchard Park in downtown Asheville this
summer! The classes will be all levels, open to all
comers, and free of charge! Classes and performances
will take place Wednesdays 5:30-7pm May 29-July 2.
